CentOS 5.8 has been released

Johnny Hughes has announced the availability of the Community Enterprise Operating System [CentOS] 5.8 on 8^th Mar, 2012. This version is available in both i386 and x86_64 both architecture. This version contains many bug fixes, new updates and new functionality.

CentOS is originally Enterprise Linux Operating System which is based on the Fedora and Red Hat Enterprise Linux. CentOS gives user the Enterprise Operating System, like experience, with free of cost. This version is also available in desktop version with both, GNOME and KDE desktop environment.

FreeBSD 8.3 RC1 has been released

Ken Smith announced the availability of FreeBSD 8.3 release candidate 1 on 7^th Mar, 2012. FreeBSD in an independent UNIX-like distribution which support varieties of architecture like i386, ia64, arm, armel, mips, mipsel, sparc64, pc98, powerpc, powerpc64, xbox and many more. 

It comes in three types like desktop edition, server edition and firewall edition. It also supports many desktop environment like GNOME, KDE, LXDE, Xfce, Afterstep, Blackbox, Enlightenment, Fluxbox, Openbox, IceWM and WMaker.

antiX Linux M12 test 2 has been released

antiX is the very fast and light-weight Linux distribution for old computer system. It is based on MEPIS and Debian. It can be uses on your old machines like 64 MB P2 processor but recommended is 128 MB of RAM. It can be also use as a rescue CD as it is very light-weight.

On 6^th Mar, 2012 its second test version of M12 distribution was released for public testing. By default IceWM is the desktop environment and the other desktop environment is Fluxbox. It contain LibreOffice, Iceweasel 10, Claws-mail as mail client, Cheese is by default added and many other changes are done.

Ubuntu 12.04 LTS beta 1 has been released

Kate Stewart announced the availability of the first beta release of Ubuntu 12.04 LTS on 1^st March, 2012. This version of Precise Pangolin contain many new features have been added to this version.

The new features are listed below.

• New HUD [head up display] for quickly searching.
• LibreOffice 3.5 beta 2.
• RhytmBox is default music player.
• Mozilla Firefox 11 and Thunderbird 11.
• Unity 5
• Linux Kernel 3.3.2.
