Linpus Linux 1.7 "Lite Desktop" has been released

Linpus is Fedora based Linux Operating System which is developed by Linpus Technology. They has announced the availability of Linpus 1.7 on 16th Mar, 2012. This version contains GNOME 3 which provides a great combination of User Interface to user and attractive GUI.


The Linpus Technology has their head-office at Taipei, Taiwan and the development office in Shanghai, China. It available in three types desktop, Live medium and Server. It available in three desktop environment like GNOME, KDE, Xfce.

Vinux 3.0.2 has been released : An Ubuntu based operating system for Visually Impaired People

Mobeen Iqbal has announced the availability of the Vinux 3.0.2. This Ubuntu based operating system is specially developed for blind and visually impaired users. Hence it contain screen-reader, full screen magnification and support for Braille display.


This version of Vinux is based on Ubuntu 10.0.4 LTS and uses Linux Kernel 2.6.32.39, Orca XDesktop 3.1.19, Firefox 10.0.2 and Thunderbird 10.0.2 by default. This Ubuntu based Operating System helps many visually impaired users in their day to day life.

Second beta version of Mageia 2 has been released

Anne Nicolas has announced the availability of second beta version of Mageia 2 Linux on 15th Mar, 2012. This version include KDE 4.8.1, GNOME 3.3 and Linux Kernel 3.3-rc7 with many other new updates. This version is specially for testing and bug fixing.

Originally Mageia is forked from Mandriva but later became independent Linux operating system. This distribution is from France and community based project which is non-profit organization.

Salix OS 13.37 Live KDE has been released

After release of Salix OS 13.37 'Xfce' the 'KDE' version of it has been released on 14th Mar, 2012. This version is also built using SaLT [Salix Live Technology] which is more powerful tool. This version is also available in both 32-bit and 64-bit architecture.


Basically Salix OS is easy to use and very fast Linux which is based on Slackware Linux. It comes in four desktop environment which are Fluxbox, KDE, LXDE and Xfce.

Calculate Linux 11.15 has been released

Alexander Tratsevskiy has announced the availability of the Calculate Linux 11.15 on 14th Mar, 2012. It provides CDS [calculate directory server] using server version and user can use this services by the desktop medium. The main change in this version is  migration to GNOME shell.


Originally this distribution is from Russia and based on Gentoo Linux and available in three desktop environment which are GNOME, KDE, and Xfce. Now a days this distribution is popular in client-server communication in corporate world.

FreeNAS 8.2.0 beta 2 has been released

Josh Paetzel has announced the availability of the FreeNAS 8.2.0 second beta version on 14th Mar, 2012. In this version compare to FreeNAS 8.0, many changes have been made like many CLI now turn into GUI.


FreeNAS is small-scale operating system based of FreeBSD which gives the NAS [network attached storage] facilities like CIFS, FTP and NFS.

Zentyal 2.3 beta version has been released

Jose Antonio Calvo has announced the availability of beta version of Zentyal 2.3 on 9th Mar, 2012. Zentyal is server Linux operating system which is based on Ubuntu and this version is based on Ubuntu 12.04 beta 1 and beta version for Zentyal 3 which will be released in September. 


This version contain integration with Samba 4. This version uses Openbox desktop environment and released under GNU GPL [General Public License]. Zentyal is originated from Spain.

FreeBSD 8.3 RC1 has been released

Ken Smith announced the availability of FreeBSD 8.3 release candidate 1 on 7th Mar, 2012. FreeBSD in an independent UNIX-like distribution which support varieties of architecture like i386, ia64, arm, armel, mips, mipsel, sparc64, pc98, powerpc, powerpc64, xbox and many more. 


It comes in three types like desktop edition, server edition and firewall edition. It also supports many desktop environment like GNOME, KDE, LXDE, Xfce, Afterstep, Blackbox, Enlightenment, Fluxbox, Openbox, IceWM and WMaker.

antiX Linux M12 test 2 has been released

antiX is the very fast and light-weight Linux distribution for old computer system. It is based on MEPIS and Debian. It can be uses on your old machines like 64 MB P2 processor but recommended is 128 MB of RAM. It can be also use as a rescue CD as it is very light-weight.


On 6th Mar, 2012 its second test version of M12 distribution was released for public testing. By default IceWM is the desktop environment and the other desktop environment is Fluxbox. It contain LibreOffice, Iceweasel 10, Claws-mail as mail client, Cheese is by default added and many other changes are done.
