Wine 1.3.28 released

Wine is the utility that use to run your Windows applications in your Linux Distro. If you faced that some application you doesn't find in your Linux Distro, you can install Wine and run your Windows application  on it. Wine runs the files having '.exe' extension. In this version 1.3.28 some new features are introduced which are listed below.




It is available for many Linux distro. Here in this image you can see that if it is available for you Linux Dostro or not.




The new features of this release:
  • Automatic audio driver selection.
  • Device configuration dialog in DirectInput.
  • Initial version of the VBScript parser.
  • Support for volume information on UDF file systems.
  • The OpenGL renderer is now the default for DirectDraw
  • SetDIBitsToDevice support in the DIB engine.
  • Various Bug fixes.

UNetbootin - A tool for creating Live USB drives

UNetbootin is a tool that is used for creating Live USB drive. It mounts ISO image of any Linux distribution on your USB flash drive or your memory card so you can install your favourite  Linux distribution on your desktop or laptop.





UNetbootin gives you option to choose you Linux distribution and its version then it download it and mount on your USB or if you have the ISO image then it directly mount on the USB.It also gives the option of mount your image onto your hard-disk.Here you can get some idea about it from the above snapshots.

LibreOffice 3.4.0 has been released

The Document Foundation has announced the major release LibreOffice 3.4.0.It introduced some new features like Calc, better Excel spredsheet, Pivot Table - new version of DataPilot with unlimited field and name.



It contain the following features:
  • Calc features
  • Draw/Impress feature
  • DataPilot feature
  • Filters feature
  • Core changes

Wine 1.3.20 released

The new version of Wine 1.3.20 has been released. The main feature of this version is the option to clip the mouse inside fullscreen windows.



There are some new features in this release
  • Support for persistent HTTP connections.
  • Initial implementation of the XML writer.
  • Support for drawing rectangles in the DIB engine.
  • Volume control in MMDevAPI.
  • More MSVC runtime functions.
  • Various bug fixes.
The source is available now. Binary packages are in the process of being built, and will appear soon at their respective download locations.

MiniTube for Linux

MiniTube is very useful YouTube player that shows the YouTubr videos without using a browser. And the other interesting features is that it also allows you to download the YouTube videos in HD quality.





In Ubuntu, Linux Mint and Debian sudo apt-get install minitube. In OpenSuse zypper install minitube and in Fedora yum install minitube.


It contain the folowing features.

  • watch youtube videos in HD
  • search youtube videos using a dynamic search box
  • also download the youtube videos
  • play, pause and skip videos

Virtual Box 4.0.8 released with 3D support for GNOME 3


VirtualBox is a general purpose virtualizer for x86 hardware for server, desktop and embedded use.

The Oracle announce the release of VirtualBox 4.0.8. This version introduced many bug fixes carried with 3D support for GNOME3. The release fixes a potential crash when resizing the guest window.It also support GNOME3 under Ubuntu 11.04 and Fedora 15.
Note that Oracle acquired VirtualBox from Sun Microsystem.

LibreOffice 3.4 Beta released

The Document Foundation has announced the release of the 4th Beta version 3.4 of the open source LibreOffice office suite.The standard version of LibreOffice 3.4 released on 31 may,2011.




LibreOffice 3.4 Beta 4 contain GUI libraries, the Calc spreadsheet program and the impress presentation manager.LibreOffice 3.4 Beta 4 is available to download for Windows, Mac OS X and Linux.The latest stable release of LibreOffice 3.3.2.
